Jackson, Andrew Grant. Still the Greatest: The Essential Songs of The Beatles' Solo Careers. Lanham, MD: The Scarecrow Press, 2012.

Mr. Jackson's book is an admirable work of speculative fiction. His research into the songs in his pantheon of alternative history LPs is detailed and thorough. I find much in it to admire. However I also took exception to some of the assumptions he used to compile his LPs. Both what I admired about Mr. Jackson's work, and what I disagreed with, served as a catalyst for launching of this site. For that, I'm grateful.
Sheffield, Rob. Dreaming the Beatles: The Love Story of One Band and The Whole World. New York: Harper Collins, 2017.

"Dreaming the Beatles is not another biography of the Beatles, or a song-by-song analysis of the best of John and Paul. It isn’t another exposé about how they broke up. It isn’t a history of their gigs or their gear. It is a collection of essays telling the story of what this ubiquitous band means to a generation who grew up with the Beatles music on their parents’ stereos and their faces on T-shirts. What do the Beatles mean today? Why are they more famous and beloved now than ever? And why do they still matter so much to us, nearly fifty years after they broke up?" (from the Amazon description of Dreaming the Beatles)
Turner, Steve. A Hard Day's Write: The Stories Behind Every Beatles Song. New York: It Books (Harper Collins), 2005.

Very nearly a companion piece to Mr. Jackson's Still the Greatest, recording artist Steve Turner shares stories about many of the songs recorded by The Beatles before the breakup.

Mea Culpa, this cover violates the rule that photos, like songs, can't be used on an LP before they were created in the real world. But it's such a beautiful album cover who could resist it? I encourage you to follow the link to see Mr. Wing's work.
